June 2023, Monthly reflection
If you enjoy this, hit the heart button. It boosts the post & my heart!
So I didn’t get a bunch of writing done this month. I had ideas like the concept of ‘putting in time in a job’ to get a promotion or to feel ready to set boundaries. I really like it and will write about it, but it just didn’t happen in June. My mind was elsewhere.
My mind was focused on prepping, promoting, and hosting my coaching event!
(^this is me last Wednesday except I don’t have 12 kids)
They always say to remain consistent with things like this newsletter, but I think it’s ok to follow my flow and where my energy is. My writing is best when I am excited and moved to share. So this month’s reflection email is less links, more learnings.
Mood
I am still feeling a high from the coaching event last Wednesday. The storytellers and guests loved it and half the guests were people I’ve never met! Incredible! So rewarding and fulfilling.
The whole event lit me up. I got so much energy from the inspiration that was being shared and the possibilities guests were left thinking about. It was an honor to hold space for the incredible storytellers and the thoughtful questions people asked.
All of this was a test run to see if I enjoyed it, if others enjoyed it, and if it was worth pursuing. Welp, it is. It’s 100% worth pursuing and integrating into my business as a coach. Why? Because I loved it! I can’t wait to host another one. So yes, my mood is :D and now I’m just recovering and recharging.

Event reflections
For context, I came up with the idea of Reinventing Work for Abundant Living, a night with those doing it about two months ago. I wanted an event that expanded people’s ideas of what work can look like, that showed it IS possible and how. I wanted guests to walk out believing that they are the change agents in their life.
I was very focused on my purpose (shout out to the book The Art of Gathering) and didn’t want to follow normal rules. It was coming from the heart so I was very intentional about a few things:
Intimacy was key so I chose a dimly lit cafe with lounge seating
I wanted my panel to be relatable and inspirational so I called the panelists ‘storytellers’, sat the storytellers amidst the crowd, and everyone was in a circle
The storytellers had different backgrounds and experiences (self-employed, small business, corporate employee) but all were very reflective people
There were two parts of the event: listening to the storytellers and then an activity to reflect and brainstorm ways to overcome blocks/hurdles in the way
The way I organized this event was different because I led with my purpose and my values. This is how I want to run and build my business. This was also one of the biggest insights from the storytellers as well.
Storyteller insights
All the storytellers held their core values close. When they did that they were able to listen to their body and gut reactions. They could tell when it was a hell yes, a hell no, or I need more info. They let their gut and values lead them.
We also talked about timing. Doing things when it’s right for you, deciding something you want may be better for you a bit later. And that’s ok. What some may call detours is just the route you need to take based on the needs you have right now. There is no wrong path, it’s just the right path for you right now.
We had a deep discussion on the relationship we have with our work. How you can fall in love with your work or business many times over as it evolves as much as we do. Then again, we may also outgrow our work and shed the old identity we once held dear. It was a lovely way to talk about work.
There were so many learnings (from what was shared & hosting the event itself) that my brain immediately wanted to write down learnings and things to improve. But instead of focusing on learnings, I paused to enjoy the achievement, be in the feels, and notice the radiant energy I felt. It was so beautiful to just be in it and not jump to fixing things.
It was a lovely, lovely experience. I’m so excited to share what it felt like and what it meant to me. I’d love to hear any thoughts on the insights or the event! Or anything at all. Show some love!
